This page explains what information this site publishes, where it comes from, what it is used for, and how to have it corrected or removed.
This site publishes the professional contact details of schools, collected from public sources. No account is needed to browse it, and no advertising tracker is set. Any school may ask for its listing to be corrected or removed, and will obtain it unconditionally.
Groupe EMDL Sàrl, Route de Florissant 10, 1206 Genève, Switzerland. Email: contact@private-schools.ch.
For each school: its name, town, canton, education levels and, where public, its telephone number, email address and website. The directory holds 881 schools, of which 508 have an email address and 666 a telephone number.
For schools that have taken out a presentation, this is supplemented by the texts, photographs and information they have supplied themselves.
Public cantonal registers of private schools, lists published by umbrella associations, school networks, and the schools' own websites. Nothing is bought from a data broker and nothing is inferred.
To let families find a school and contact it directly. The contact details published are those the school itself makes public for that purpose.
The Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection, revised in 2023, now protects natural persons only: information about a school incorporated as a company is not personal data within its meaning. We do not shelter behind that distinction. Some schools in the directory are run by natural persons, some email addresses are personal and some numbers are mobile phones: those listings fall squarely within the Act.
We therefore apply the same regime to every listing, without distinction: information, correction and removal on request.
For as long as the school exists and appears in the directory. A removed listing is deleted from the directory and from the published version, not merely hidden. A record of removals is kept so that a removed listing is not republished by mistake.
No one. Directory data is neither sold, rented nor passed to third parties for marketing.
Two technical transfers nevertheless occur in your browser when you use the site, and you should know about them:
This site sets no advertising cookie and uses no third-party analytics. The orientation tool runs entirely in your browser: what you enter there is neither transmitted nor stored.
Any person, and any school, may request:
A removal request is carried out unconditionally, with no justification required and no commercial condition attached. It has no bearing on any ongoing service.
By email to contact@private-schools.ch, stating the school's name and what you are asking for. We acknowledge receipt and deal with the request promptly. Removal requests take priority.
You may also contact the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner, Feldeggweg 1, 3003 Bern, Switzerland.
The site is served over HTTPS only. It is entirely static: it has no database, no user account and no active form, and the server keeps only the host's technical access logs, retained for a limited period and used solely in the event of an incident.
